When drafting this project, I wanted it to act as a resource for students who are unfamiliar with neoliberalism and how it operates on college campuses. As a fellow student, I am hoping to spark change within the mind of even a few of my peers. While I spent months researching these topics, I am still barely scratching the surface of these issues millions of students face. I truly believe you have to understand how to fight capitalism to truly understand how to fight patriarchy—the two are inherently linked. Everything has been realigned to the markets and, unfortunately, we cannot think about social justice without thinking about economic growth.
Despite completing this blog for my final WGS project at SUNY Oneonta, I hope to make this an ongoing place where I can reflect on my journey as I spend more time away from higher education. Additionally, I would like to use this website to advocate for other social issues as I find time to study them, such as abortion rights and pleasure activism.

Chaise Latsha is a senior at SUNY Oneonta graduating in May 2022. She is a Women’s and Gender Studies major with a minor in English. While her area of focus is pleasure and sexuality, she has recently gained more interest in political science and understanding the depths and far reaches of capitalism. This is her first project diving into such a topic.
While at SUNY Oneonta, Chaise has been a member of many on-campus associations. She was the secretary and vice president of Drag’N Rolls Drumline for a year, as well as the secretary and vice president of Women’s and Gender Studies for almost a year. She worked as a Night Host in her freshman dorm and then became a Resident Advisor her sophomore year. Chaise has had a multitude of positive and negative experiences at SUNY Oneonta in her three years there, in-person and virtually due to COVID-19. Nevertheless, she advocates for all students to reflect on their journey in higher education to better understand the ways they have been personally impacted by neoliberalism.
Chaise will hopefully be graduating summa cum laude. She has been granted various awards, including the Mariama Ba African Feminist Literature Award and the SLAB Outstanding Senior Award for her intersectional approach, commitment to diversity, and work within both the WGS and ALS communities.
In her spare time, Chaise enjoys skateboarding, photography, watching Jeopardy with her friends, and playing with her dogs.
