- One problem I have is the value that is placed on grades. I would say these experiences are universal. For me, I experienced this while completing my general education classes. While studying my major, I have come to understand that it is really the quality of the work produced that is most important to me and to life after college. People who are looking for designers want to see the work produced, not the grades that have been earned. In turn, I’ve pondered the concept of “grades” and how it’s affected me in the past and my peers of different majors.
- I don’t think the education I have recieved has been worth the price, and tuition could be lowered. I feel as though most of the increase to cost has been for housing/meal plans. We didn’t have to pay a large tuition for education prior, so why now?
- I would define success as being happy with your growth and what you’ve accomplished, for your sake. If you are happy, then that’s success to me. Yes, I feel as though I am successful; I’ve changed a lot in the past 3 years, and I’m proud of myself for that. In some ways, I think capitalist society might view me as successful. I’m not sure thought, because I haven’t contributed much to capitalism, and that’s where, I believe, most of it is measured. How long have you worked? Are you working currently? How much work are you completing? these are some of the questions that I feel would be entertained by society as “successful.”
- My mental health has absolutely been impacted by college. I’ve been increasingly more stressed with constantly trying to get mutiple things done at once at such a fast pace. I haven’t particularly coped with anything, but I’ve taken up hobbies though. I find that taking time to decompress helps. However, some people don’t have this luxury as they utilize all their time trying to sustain themselves through work.
